Phoenix Farm Owner and Trainer Blair Cecil has more than two decades of experience working with many different breeds including but not limited to American Saddlebreds, Arabians, Hackney ponies, Quarter Horses, and Miniature Horses, and other saddle-horse breeds. While saddleseat is her primary training discipline, she also has experience in hunt seat, dressage, western, and driving. She grew up in the horse industry, competing in 4-H and started showing horses competitively at age 9.
Blair is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science with an Equine emphasis, and was Assistant Coach of the horse judging team. She is a recognized small r judge in Saddlebreds, Saddleseat Equitation, Hackney’s, and Roadsters through USEF, and has enjoyed judging many shows nationally.
Before opening Phoenix Farm in 2016, Blair worked as assistant trainer under several World Champion trainers in the industry to gain the knowledge and experience to make her a well-rounded and competent horse trainer. Blair has had much success in the show ring, and enjoys coaching horse and rider teams toward the same success. She has put several World Champion teams in the ring, and has had the pleasure of working with many top horses during her professional career.
Blair’s biggest goals as a trainer are to promote these breeds through public education at every opportunity, and to keep the horse industry fun yet affordable for everyone. She strives to create opportunities for horses and riders of all levels to enjoy horses and competition. From starting young horses to teaming amateurs and junior exhibitors with suitable mounts, her experience ensures most aspects of the horse industry are covered.
